Wafters

Wafters are the perfect balanced hookbait

Wafters have become an indispensable part of carp fishing in recent years, and rightly so. They combine the best of both worlds: the natural presentation of a boilie and the subtle attraction of a pop-up . For waters with heavy pressure or where fishing is rare, wafters are often the key to success.

At Carp-Shop you'll find a carefully selected range of wafters that are perfectly balanced, rich in attractors and suitable for all kinds of rigs and situations.

What exactly are Wafters?

A wafter is a hookbait that doesn't quite float, but rather floats on or above the hook. The weight of your hook causes the wafter to float very slightly above or just on the bottom. This allows a carp to easily swallow the bait without raising a suspicion.

Why wafters are so effective

  • Super natural presentation

  • Less resistance during absorption

  • Ideal for dressage waters

  • Suitable for short and long sessions

Wafters are often used as an alternative to boilies or pop-ups, especially when carp are feeding cautiously.

When do you choose a Wafter?

Dressage waters

On heavily fished waters, carp have often seen everything. A floating pop-up can arouse suspicion. Wafters are less noticeable, but often work better because of that.

Bottom fishing

Are you fishing on a hard bottom, gravel, or light silt? Then a wafter is perfect for it. It doesn't sit heavy on the bottom and moves subtly with the current.

Versatile

Wafters can be used all year round.

Different types of Wafters

Our range includes wafters in various flavors, colors, and shapes, so you can always tailor them to your fishing needs.

Match the hatch Wafters

These wafters are matched to matching boilies. Ideal for longer sessions where confidence is key.

High Attract Wafters

A slightly more distinctive scent and flavor, without being overly strong. Perfect for instant fishing or when you need a little extra trigger.

Combine this with a Baitspray or Dip for extra attraction.

Best rigs for Wafters

Wafters are extremely versatile and work well on a variety of rigs, such as:

  • Ronnie rig

  • German rig

  • Spinner rig

  • D-rig

The balanced nature of a wafter means your hook will tip faster and your rig will always be presented tightly.

Tip: Always test your rig in shallow water before posting.

How to get more out of your Wafters

Boost your hookbait

A wafter becomes even stronger if you treat it with a:

  • Baitspray

  • Liquid dip

This way you create a scent trail around your hookbait without ruining your presentation.

Vary in size

Sometimes a smaller wafter (e.g., 10 or 12mm) is more effective than a larger one. This can make all the difference, especially with wary carp.

Wafters and combinations with other baits

Wafters are best used in combination with:

  • Boilies as basic food

  • Grubs for extra attraction

  • Stick mixes around your rig
